Description

Constantius Gallus was a half-brother of Constantine the Great and half-first cousin to the emperor Constantius II, under whom he served as Caesar in the east. Reports of disloyalty coupled with complaints about his harsh and oppressive treatment of his subjects in the east, compelled Constantius II to summon Gallus to the west, where he was tried, condemned and put to death.
