Did you know that Black History Month always has a theme? It’s chosen by the same foundation that supported Carter G. Woodson’s project that became Black History Month way back in 1926. This year’s theme is “African Americans and the Arts.” What better way to appreciate Black art and numismatics at the same time that with gorgeous banknotes and coins from Africa and the African diaspora?

Often underappreciated, these colorful notes and bold coins highlight national heroes, rare species and ecosystems, and the everyday life and culture of Black communities all over the world.
