Description
Hussain Shah was the last of the Sharqi Dynasty to rule over the Jaunpur Sultanate of northern India. His short reign, saw him make repeated attempts to capture Delhi, always without success. Despite his weakened position, he was given favorable terms by his adversaries on two occasions. He however continued with his invasion plans, and was finally totally defeated and forced to flee to Bengal, where he was given asylum. In contrast to his political and military failures he is known for building the famous Jama Mosque in Jaunpur and was an accomplished composer of Hindustani classical music.
