Description
The Timurid Empire was founded by Timur the Great or Tamerlane (1370-1405 CE) who conquered most of Central Asia, Persia, Mesopotamia, the Caucuses, Eastern Anatolia and North-Western India. He famously sacked the cities of Delhi, Aleppo and Damascus with hundreds of thousands killed and the whole city laid to waste. His military campaigns are estimated to have killed 17 million people, almost 5% of the global population at the time. His successors proved to be less capable and the empire suffered from internal divisions, in just over a hundred years it disappeared.
