Description
In the early 20th century, Vienna was one of its great cultural and political centers. At one time, Sigmund Freud, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Tito, and Leon Trotsky all lived within a few miles of each other in central Vienna, frequenting the same coffeehouses, and perhaps imbibing at the famed Hotel Continental. Issued on 1 March 1916, this share certificate from that renowned hotel is a fascinating artifact from the First World War.
