Pathet Lao refers to the Communist uprising and Lao nationalist movement of the 1970s. On December 2, 1975, the Pathet Lao firmly took over the government, abolishing the monarchy and establishing the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Their money depicts Marxist themes: agriculture, veneration of the common man, and so forth.
