Description
Teos was a prosperous flourishing seaport when the Persian Achaemenid Emperor, Cyrus the Great invaded Ionia in 540 BCE. The inhabitants chose to abandon the city to the invaders and sought refuge in Thrace. Returning from their exile several years later, the city recovered and would continue to be of importance into the Roman period.
