Details

Akbar was the greatest of the Mughal Emperors of India. He brought much of the Indian subcontinent under his control and developed a form of effective but tolerant rule, that won the loyalty of the vast diverse non-Muslim populations of this realm. His reign saw a flowering of artistic expression alongside economic growth, administrative reform and military expansion. His tolerance and curiosity towards India’s many other religions, is seen in the ”Din-i-ilahi“ (Divine Faith) cult that he established, a syncretic creed derived from elements of Islam, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Christianity.
