Finland has a close history with Russia. In 1809, the
Romanov tsar Alexander I conquered Sweden, which ceded Finland to Russia. It then became a semi-autonomous Grand Duchy, breaking free of Russia during the revolution
of 1917.
This album contains two silver 25 pennia coins of Finland, almost identical: both have the Romanov double eagle. One has a crown, for the monarchy, and was issued before independence; the other is the same but with the crown missing,
and was issued by the Russian provisional government.
