Details

The Kangxi Emperor is the longest reigning emperor in Chinese history, with a reign of 61 years. He is considered one of China’s greatest emperors, managing to block Russian encroachment on its border, suppressing internal revolt in Yunnan, Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan and along the Mongolian frontier. His internal reforms and strong leadership mark the beginning of the "Prosperous Era of Kangxi and Qianlong" or "High Qing". During his long life, he had 64 spouses and at least 36 children who lived into early childhood.
