Details

By the time of his premature death at the age of 32, Alexander III of Macedon had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world. It stretched from Greece to Northern India and included Egypt and all of the once mighty Persian empire. Tutored by Aristotle until age 16, he became King at age 20, following the assassination of his father, Philip II in 336 BCE. Regarded as one of history’s greatest military geniuses, his achievements far outlasted his short lifespan, with Greek culture continuing to have an influence across the lands he conquered for hundreds of years.
